1. How can you use this website?

Maliso mainly addressed to those who wish to hear stories.  However, this website gives additionally the possibility to find detailed information of the recorded stories, or theoretical comments about stories, in general of the oral tradition, as well as the books from which they come out.  Depending on what you are searching for, you can go straight to the field of your interest. 

A brief description of all the fields that appear on the Home Page of the website is the following:

   "maliso" Information about the identity of this website, and about  how it can be used.
   "listen to a story"  Recorded stories and technical information about them.
   "others΄ words"  Quote passages from books along with their sources.
   "literature"  Presentation of the books that have been used by maliso.
    "video"  Presentation of audiovisual material associated only with the maliso people.

3. How can you hear a story?

You can go straight to the field "listen to a story. "Searching" will help them to find there, what suits them. The searching procedure can be made based on the ages at which the story addressed, its title or its content such as: category of the story (magic (imaginary), facets, legend or tradition, with animals, general) kind of the heroes (animal, boy, girl, etc) characteristics and sufferings of the hero and motif (poor - rich, king - common man, treasure hunts, persecution, etc). By "clicking" on the title of the story, a "window" will open and the summary of the story will be displayed, below of which a megaphone is figured and just right to it a pointer.  By "clicking" on the pointer, the story starts to sound.


4.   How can you get access to the detailed information for each recording story?

After you have selected the story, in the field "listen to a story" and the “window” with the summary of the story has appeared, as long as it makes one "click" on the i (information) symbol, that appears to the left of the summary, a PDF file will be opened in separate tab, calling “Story Identity Sheet” with information on its particular characteristics such as: the Aarne & Thompson range number (AT ###), collections in which maliso met the story, while shaping its narrative, variations met throughout the study of the story, all the characters participating in the story, fairytales patterns, and other elements which are usually of interest, mainly, to narrators, students and other researchers. These parameters are also involved in the story research procedure (e.g. one can look at in which stories appear such and such pattern, etc.)


5. How can you get access to the theoretical comments around the oral tradition΄s stories?

By "clicking" on the field "others' words" and then the contents subtitles, one can arrive faster in the quotes he is looking for. After each quote, the source: the  book, from which detached, is cited. By clicking" on the "source", one goes to "bibliography" showing the book in detail: front cover, back cover, the author details (where applicable) contents (where possible), version information, etc.


6. How can you learn about what new data have been added to the website?

The field "new" posted notices of newly introduced data, identifying their type: new story, new comments, new event etc. There, the importation's date also appears, so someone can start a new search data from the date of its last visit to the site.
